Drey Willows (she/her) is a print-informed artist based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. Drawing on her background as a trauma-informed social worker, Drey's practice is grounded in lived experience and frontline work with victim-survivors of gendered violence. Through embodied research-led processes, she interrogates the spectacle of violence in news and popular culture, exposing victim-blaming narratives, institutional failures and the commodification of women’s suffering. Engaging with the complexities of the human condition, Drey’s practice is informed by feminist protest, trauma research, sociology and media culture. With an interest in experimental modalities, her practice includes printmaking, drawing, sculpture and installation as tools to activate dialogue and resistance. Drey completed a Bachelor of Social Work at Newcastle University (2011) and a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) with first class Honours at RMIT University (2023). Drey has exhibited in Australia and abroad, she has been invited as Artist in Residence in the Netherlands and India, and is a founding member of feminist artist collective, Pussy Willow Power.
